“Klaus undertook a project for us over the Spring and the results have been brilliant – we could not be happier!

Before the project: Klaus was extremely professional, communication was easy and prompt. He got a good idea of what we wanted, asked for photos to get an idea of the look that we were going for, and was a generally chatty and easy person to get on with.

During the project: The job took around 2 days to complete – he was finished a bit quicker than expected which was great. I was extremely impressed by his workmanship – Klaus is obviously someone who takes great pride in his work and is a perfectionist. He accomplished exactly what we wanted (actually it turned out to be better) and the finish was to an extremely high quality. Just wow. He also thought of a few design features that have made life so much easier. Klaus was also extremely tidy and respectful of our home which I really appreciated. He also was very good with Kylo the cat and didn’t seem to mind him sniffing around whilst he was working.

After the project: Klaus popped in the next day to have a quick chat and make sure that we were happy with everything. He also showed us some features that he had thought of (like adjustable shelving) which was great. Excellent customer service.

Recommendation: I am so glad that we found Klaus and would not hesitate in recommending him to others. He is extremely professional and his workmanship is excellent. He gets pretty booked up and we had to wait a few months before he could undertake the project – but I am really glad we did – it was absolutely worth the wait.”

“Klaus did a wonderful job of our alcove shelving & cupboards in our lounge. He was very patient while we unexpectedly had some damp work done which delayed our installation by several months – even helping us put back our fireplace ahead of the installation! Our walls are rather wonky but Klaus has done perfect job fitting the shelves so they look flush & straight. The same goes for the skirting and cupboards. He left no mess whatsoever and actually took time to do some finishing touches, like fit a vent, so that our lounge looked perfect when he was done. No criticisms whatsoever. And, wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone!”

Aurelia, Walthamstow

“I found Klaus through a websearch and after speaking to several companies, I decided he was the right man for the job. Klaus came up with an inventive way to build a shelving unit that runs the length of our recent extension. He also installed shelves in alcoves in our music and lift rooms. We are very happy with his work and would happily recommend him.”

Lars, Friern Barnet

“Klaus, You can have no real impression of our delight. We were both rather numb from the shock of suddenly having the tables under our hands! A wonderful start to the year.

We do not think we could have found a better artist to carry out the work. Your approach both to the design and our inept drawings displayed tact at its delicate best. As far as we are concerned this project has been utterly painless. And, we have learned so much from you about new techniques; the drawings were a revelation. The CNC is actually way beyond my comprehension, but the perfect cutting of such intimacy is miraculous.

Ralph & Max, Islington

“I found Klaus Thorsen through various local web sites with high recommendation. I needed some special shelving units and cupboards to be built in my study. The space was complex due to it being in a loft extension and my requirements were very specific. Klaus took my very rough drawings and measured up perfectly to adapt this to the actual space.

The quality of his work was perfect and I am delighted with the result. As important was his attitude, which including being punctual almost to the second, being excellent to work with, ensuring not a speck of dust remained after he had finished and keeping perfectly to schedule.Indeed the only problem is that Klaus is booked up for several months in advance!! I would HIGHLY recommend him.”

Alan, Hampstead Garden Suburb

“We commissioned Klaus of Thorsen Joinery to construct some in-built cupboards and shelves in our living room and also under stairs storage made up of a tall cupboard, a bench and a series of drawers.

Right from the initial consultation we were impressed with his professionalism and friendly nature. Although we had a good idea of what we were looking for Klaus recommended certain design features and also what would work for the spaces involved. Off the back of this meeting we were confident to proceed and booked him the next day without seeing anyone else.

Prior to the pre-booked slot we met again with Klaus to confirm the design and details where he also updated us on the construction and installation program to follow. Most of the work was done outside of the property meaning it was just the fine tuning and installation that happened on site. While in our house Klaus respected our space and ensured this was left clean each day and spotless on completion.

We are really happy with the final outcome and each unit has come out better than expected! Now completed and in use we’ve had numerous positive comments from guests and have recommended his services to others. We feel that the service and quality of workmanship matches the fee we paid and would definitely look to use Thorsen Joinery again for any of our future projects.”

“Klaus recently constructed a set of tiered Victorian shutters for our bedroom and we could not be more pleased with the result.  They are exactly what we wanted and beautifully executed.  He was punctual, responsive to our requirements and was very easy to work with.  I wouldn’t hesitate to use him again, despite knowing that I’ll have to queue behind a crowd of other eager customers.  His work definitely stands out amongst the others.”

Sue, Richmond Cresent, Islington

“Klaus installed a cupboard and floating shelves in our alcoves. He did a fantastic job and we are thrilled with the outcome. His work is of very high quality and he is very reasonably priced. He is very nice to work with and the entire process of designing and delivering the project was very enjoyable. Installation was also very quick and with minimal disruption (he left the room extremely clean and tidy!). We would highly recommend Klaus and look forward to working with him again in the future!”

Kelly and David, Haringey

“I am very happy to recommend Klaus Thorsen for any work involving carpentry and joinery. It’s obvious that he takes pride in his work and so achieves a high standard. He is also very tidy, respectful of your space and gave me the impression of scrupulous honesty. In addition, Klaus is nice to have around in one’s home.” ‘

Verity, Muswell Hill

“We are absolutely thrilled with the shutters that Klaus built for us.  We gave him quite an unusual brief and he was completely open minded about our ideas, which he then went on to produce beautifully.  He was extremely flexible about times, he could come round to talk about the project and also about when he do the work itself.  He was extremely efficient, very tidy and also did everything exactly when he said he would and finished when he said he would…not always the case with others who have worked on our house!  We will absolutely use him again and would recommend him wholeheartedly to others.”

Cathy and Becca, Islington

The shutters are an absolute dream – beautifully fitted, they look like they were made just for this space (but we know you did a lot of wonderful work to make it seem this way).  We were really impressed with your professionalism and approachability throughout: you made the time to make an initial visit and only committed to the project once you knew you could do it; on the day you did the work you did exactly what you said you were going to do – no surprises.  And you left the space as dust-free as you found it, which was remarkable. It took a long time to find someone to take on this complicated project – we’re really glad we persevered. 100% recommended.”

Klaus is a punctual, helpful, fast, skilled and considerate joiner.  What more might one ask?  He even fixed the clutch with a new clutch cable to my motorbike!

Philip, Highgate

“Many thanks, Klaus, for our two bespoke alcove units. They look great. We appreciate the quality of the units and the fact that you really wanted us to be happy with the design and right through the process to installation. It was a pleasure to have you working in our home and you kept disruption and mess to a minimum.  We would not hesitate to recommend you. Thanks again.”

Steve, Wood Green

“Klaus has exceptional attention to detail and really understood my wife and I as clients, as well as people. Klaus ensured the working area and surroundings were cleared and vacuumed after each day. We are really pleased with the results – our alcove shelving is amazing. The workmanship is spot on and the details have exceeded our expectations. With all things considered we feel Klaus offered good value for his services and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to our friends and family.”

Aggy and Hoss, Palmers Green

“I recently engaged Klaus to make me bespoke office furniture, fit sliding wardrobe doors, and do carpentry work ( skirting, boxing in and door hanging etc). The finish of the work and the quality of the carpentry was of exceptional quality.  My home was left clean and tidy and Klaus went the extra mile assisting me to source products online too.

The rate for the work was fair and the quality of the workmanship clearly evidences that representing good value for moneyI would definitely use Klaus again (indeed I already have something in mind for the future!) and have no hesitation in recommending his services to anyone who values quality craftsmanship undertaken in a professional manner.”

Douglas Maitland-Jones, Walthamstow

“When it comes to shutters there is just not really anyone out there like Klaus.  I spent ages trying to find a way to restore my shutters so that they could be housed in their original panel boxes, but using a tiered format more suited to modern living.  Yet all I found out were mass production shutter companies that could only install their product on top of the boxes and not in them. No good at all.

But then I found Klaus… He was instantly professional and personable at the same time.  He has a passion for shutters and his trade which builds confidence and inspires throughout the process.  He knew instinctively what I wanted and the end product is brilliant. They look every bit like they are from the Victorian era, are incredibly well made and very easy to use.  I just love them and still smile every morning and evening when I use them.  If you have found Klaus then do not hesitate to use him – he is a real find.”

Damian, Highgate

“I can thoroughly recommend Klaus, he recently worked on shelving for me as I wanted to turn a room into an artist studio and needed shelves to store art materials and somewhere to keep canvases and stuff.  He did a fabulous job on the finish that I required.  He was very thorough and precise. He is also aware of and respectful of my environment and left no mess. I would describe him as a skilled craftsman and a good one at that.  I would say that my money was well spent and the next time I need some carpentry work done, then I would certainly give Klaus a call.  If anyone asked me to recommend a carpenter, then I would recommend Klaus anytime.”

Val, Bounds Green

“Klaus fitted new floating shelves in our dining room, living room, and two of the bedrooms. The work was of the highest quality, he was meticulous, tidy, professional and polite and I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone needing similar work doing.”

Beth, Bounds Green

“Klaus made some beautiful solid wood bespoke painted shutters for our bedroom. I was immediately impressed with his professionalism and knowledge of the options, and he came up with an elegant solution for the space. The shutters were made to match the existing original shutters in other rooms of the house and the craftsmanship was immaculate. We were kept updated on progress and the work was completed in good time. Klaus fitted the shutters beautifully and precisely (very clearly not willing to cut corners) and left the house clean and tidy after leaving. We thought the work was good value for money considering the quality of the materials and craftsmanship, and the fact that we required a bespoke solution. We wouldn’t hesitate to use Klaus again.”

Isobel Morton, Islington

“Thorsen Joinery recently fitted a kitchen for us. Klaus estimated the time required and therefore cost and gave us a start/finish date. Klaus arrived on the date agreed and finished on the date agreed. He managed any difficulties the job threw up as he went along and charged the agreed amount. As anyone involved in building projects knows any one of these things happening is rare, all of them almost unheard of.”

Harry, Swiss Cottage

“Klaus has done work for me on three different occasions.  He has built and installed floor to ceiling “ invisible cupboards” which, 7 years on, still look great;  installed some bedroom wardrobes and finally installed a kitchen in its entirety.  He is a skilled carpenter (I should know, my grandfather was one).  He works neatly, conscientiously and quickly. I am very happy to recommend him and would use him again in a flash on any carpentry jobs I may have.”

Nicola, Muswell Hill

“I needed double doors to divide a ground floor room. I had been told that this was a tricky job and had despaired of finding someone competent to take it on. Klaus Thorsen came and looked at the problem, quickly provided me with drawings and an estimate, and equally quickly made and installed the doors. All this done with minimum fuss, no mess and altogether agreeably. A very happy result.”

Jane Fior, Stoke Newington

“Klaus Thorsen manufactured and installed some contemporary bespoke-designed joinery for us. These were based Design Intent drawings supplied by us. Both items were wardrobes and one was particularly tricky with intricate mirror detail. We and our clients were really happy with the end result”.

Siobhan Casey, Interior Designer | Director at Casey & Fox Ltd

“Klaus is local to my North London cafe. I’ve known Klaus for a number of years and have come to appreciate the quality of his work. As with anyone fitting out new business premises, I want to be assured of getting quality, in a timely fashion and at a good rate. Klaus gives all these and went beyond the call of duty to help get my vision complete. Klaus is also a man who cares about his tools! And he’s tidy. We like that in a carpenter.

Steve Talevski, Director, Haringey

“It is always a pleasure working with Klaus. He has always been professional, honest, reliable, neat and accommodating. He has done a number of jobs for us over the years, all of it still functioning beautifully. He did the majority of the works in our warehouse conversion in Old Street which included a bespoke kitchen with the most amazing LED lighting and concrete counter top. Bespoke shelving in the living room, 2 gorgeous bathrooms and a freestanding dresser in our bedroom. Naturally when we moved to our new house, we called on Klaus again. He built fire-stack alcove shelving with shelving units below on three floors. He re-created the dressers we had at old street in our bedroom and created a cupboard on the top floor for additional storage. If it weren’t for Klaus, we would still be living in boxes! He takes much pride in his work and is extremely good value for the quality. We would no doubt use his services again and would recommend him to anyone!”

Luella Lane

“Klaus is a skilled craftsman, who I’ve used on a number of projects over the past five years. He is trustworthy, reliable and amenable. Conscientious and resourceful. With an eye for detail, when it comes to finishing”.
